For 50 years, the Centre de santé des femmes de Montréal has been a place of care, activism, and solidarity. To mark this anniversary, the CSFM is delving into its archives to revisit a collective history: that of women who mobilized to reclaim power over their health, their bodies, and their choices—and who helped bring about lasting change in Quebec society.

Telling this story means making space for the struggles that shaped the present, the people who carried them forward, and the knowledge passed down from one generation to the next. It also means recognizing that this history is neither linear nor finished: our rights can never be taken for granted, and the right to abortion and access to health care for women remain causes that must continue to be defended and advanced.

Through historical archives and personal testimonies, the exhibition brings generations into conversation and highlights the ideas and actions that have advanced sexual and reproductive rights. Bridging past and present, it seeks to bring together those who lived through these struggles and those who carry their legacy today.

To carry this history beyond the exhibition, visitors will also be able to pre-order the exhibition book on site. The book retraces this journey and keeps alive the stories of those who helped transform the world we live in today.

Because inheriting their courage also means finding our own.
